ABSTRACT
The Blalock-Taussig-Thomas shunt is one of the milestone procedures in cardiac surgery and a crucial operation for palliating blue babies. It currently impractical to train new surgeons on infants even under supervision their mentors. A realistic training model location, exposure, tissue toughness, texture required. objective this study was determine whether practical evaluate quality anastomosis performed by surgical trainees. Piglet heart lung models were selected from piglets 3 5 kg. Six cardiothoracic residents participated program procedure. Subsequently, every trainee answered standard questionnaire terms satisfaction reality practicality; trainers evaluated anastomosis. median score each item analyzed described. similarly. Median scores (14 questions) 9, 10, 9.5, 8.5, 8. challenge (6 10. evaluation 6 trainees 25 (24-25). Our heart-lung simulation perhaps 1 most simulations practicality, visualization, exposure related structures, similar scenes real operation, sense touch texture. Realistic should be developed, but they inexpensive.
