ABSTRACT
The presence of building balconies can significantly modify the near-façade wind flow pattern and surface pressures. present study evaluates impact balcony geometry on mean speed spaces wind-induced pressure for generic high-rise buildings. focus is that extend along entire width façade. Large-eddy simulations (LES), validated with tunnel experiments, are conducted to investigate (i) or not, (ii) depth, (iii) parapet walls, (iv) partition (v) density balconies. results indicate greatly affect local façade-averaged coefficient (Cp). increase Cp over windward leeward façades by 5.2% 8.9%, respectively. These numbers rise 23.5% 23.3% when two walls added at lateral edges façades. Adding five reduce overall area-averaged 68.0% compared case without walls. findings be useful in developing, designing constructing buildings façade geometrical details improve ventilation, air quality comfort.
