ABSTRACT
Enterovirus 71 (EV71) is a major virus that causes hand-foot - mouth disease. In cases of infants and young children, EV71 infection has been associated with severe neurological disease potentially fatal systemic complications. The sporadic outbreak worldwide increasingly prevalent in the Asia-Pacific region, where it become public health concern. No specific antiviral drugs are currently approved for treatment infection. purpose this study to comprehensively review research progress anti-EV71 (synthetic small molecule inhibitors nature drugs) past twenty years, further promote development against enterovirus This reviewed on anti decades. literature search PubMed database was conducted original studies articles 71. Related published English were selected discussion. As paper, bioactive molecules include receptor analogues, protease inhibitors, natural derived from traditional chinese medicine or medicine. These have shown significant effectiveness inhibiting entry replication vitro vivo experiments. demonstrated into host cells studied, made some progress, but most analogues not reported. Further needed area future. On other hand, always aspect anti-enterovirus can be developed as agents clinical application. terms drugs, many monomers good activity little toxic side effects cells, view their multi-target properties, mechanism drug action needs studied.
