ABSTRACT
IntroductionCognitive function, depression, and functional health profiles of older adults directly predict overall well-being. Family dynamics in India are changing mainly due to urbanization, migration the younger generation for education or employment, change social system, making elderly parents alone slowly getting transferred old age homes. Hence, investigators were interested determining health, cognitive decline among young middle-aged non-debilitated institutionalized adults.ObjectivesTo determine correlation between function depression young-old old-old residing at homes coastal part southern India.Study designAn exploratory study aged.MethodologyThe survey was conducted after obtaining permission from respective authorities. Socio-demographic proforma, profiles, Modified Barthel Index, Short-form scale, Muscle strength assessments data collection instruments. Statistical Analysis done through Jamovi. (Version 2.3). Descriptive statistics Karl Pearson's parametric statistic test applied.ResultsMontreal's assessment revealed that 81% had borderline impairment. The short-form geriatric score 87% reported mild depressive symptoms. As ability declined, symptoms common (r = −0.494, p < 0.05)ConclusionDepression, impairment, need be monitored regularly, appropriate interventions must employed improve their quality life.
