ABSTRACT
The splicing factor SRSF1 promotes nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD), a quality control mechanism that degrades mRNAs with premature termination codons (PTCs). Here we show transcript-bound increases the binding of NMD UPF1 to while in, or associated with, nucleus, bypassing UPF2 recruitment and promoting NMD. when positioned downstream PTC, which resembles mode action exon junction complex (EJC) factors. Moreover, and/or EJC deposition increase effect on Lastly, enhances PTC-containing endogenous transcripts result from various events. Our findings reveal an alternative for recruitment, uncovering additional connection between SRSF1's role in mRNA's journey has broad implications gene expression regulation genetic diseases.
