ABSTRACT
Cardiac arrest is a significant cause of mortality and morbidity. Despite advances in technologies resuscitative care, patients who remain comatose after cardiac present the bedside clinician with both diagnostic therapeutic uncertainty because variable comfort how best to neuroprognosticate. Recent guidelines attempt address existing knowledge gaps; however, variability remains clinical practice, including application guideline recommendations at bedside. We case-based discussion illustrate key principles for early care subsequent approach neuroprognostication. explore many nuances neuroprognostication, utility examination combined either neuroimaging or neurophysiologic studies, helping these support their families decision-making processes. discuss multimodal neuroprognostication may be subject site-specific availability testing. Furthermore, incorporate multidisciplinary team patient subspecialty services such as neurology palliative discussed when faced complex situations.
