ABSTRACT
Rural areas are multifunctional and often have production, living, ecological functions. The high-quality balanced development of these three functions is key to sustainable rural (SRD). Thus, the evaluation SRD based on multifunctionality immense significance. This study clarifies relationship between development. An index system with six sub-components was established for calculating SRD. In addition, we included 129 counties from Sichuan Province in our case study, used this analyze characteristics evaluating results showed indisputable evidence At county level, faces challenge insufficient uneven development, particularly production Significant spatial differences existed suburban generally performed better. Moreover, a mutually reinforcing established; however, there still significant gap realizing Our emphasize necessity differentiated strategy that should be formulated implemented differentiation rules. offers useful guidance
