ABSTRACT
Abstract A novel sequential homogenization scheme based on a multi-coated model was proposed to investigate viscoelastic properties of composite with functionally graded interphase. After investigating strain disturbance within the multi-coated model, the established sequential homogenization scheme contains two steps: Virtual adding by Self-Consistency scheme and Sequentially homogenization by Mori-Tanaka scheme. During homogenization, matrix was assumed to obey General Maxwell viscoelastic constitutive law and interphase is related to the matrix. Effectiveness of the present method was verified by the available experimental results and finite element simulations. Furthermore, effects of the reinforcement and the functionally graded interphase on storage and loss modulus with various load frequencies were studied. It was found that thickness and properties of the interphase influences loss factor in middle frequency ranges. In the end, responses under stress relaxation and constant strain rate were explored.
