ABSTRACT
Abstract Corrosion has been treated as one of the biggest risks on implantation failure of selective laser melting (SLM) fabricated NiTi implants. This study performed corrosion tests in simulated body fluid at 37 ℃ on SLM-fabricated NiTi alloy. The mechanical property, electrochemical performance, microstructure, surface roughness, surface potential difference, electronic property and composition of passive film formed on the surface of SLM-fabricated NiTi alloy were detailed characterized. It has been revealed that the corrosion resistance performance was dependent on the building direction of the sample. The detail corrosion resistance mechanism was discussed in the paper.
