ABSTRACT
Cities are a conducive context for the emergence of digital platforms and at same time cities reshaped by spaces that created these platforms. The key features set Urban Digital Platforms (UDPs) apart from other allocation public goods services an urban scale (via P2P transaction), their orientation towards civic grassroots initiatives in area's which local state agencies have significant role steering development patterns. This article explores realms interactions engagements 'urban platform(s) two prominent European cities, Milan Amsterdam. By focusing on crowdfunding initiatives, it shows not only unleash societal but also potential to fundamentally change (urban) political processes, as gatekeeping principles provide powerful frame projects selected. paper sheds light how platform urbanism new lens geography critical investigating 'alternative platforms' mutual co-constitution between technology, sociality, spatiality.
