ABSTRACT
This paper investigates for the first time feasibility of lithium recovery using ion-sieves from a Mexican geothermal brine well Cerro Prieto power plant. The materials were prepared following microwave-assisted hydrothermal route to favor their sustainability. Also, effect three manganese-based compounds as precursors was evaluated in which vacancies generated by acid treatment, varying concentration and contact time. structural characterizations showed that manganese sulfate an efficient precursor synthesizing LiMn2O4 spinel. results uptake experiments, pH Li solution highest sorption capacity is obtained at 12. adsorption kinetics better described pseudo second order equation (R2=0.9392). According Weber-Morris model, process seems be governed film diffusion rather intraparticle diffusion. maximum achieved 9.64 mg/g thermodynamic equilibrium best Freundlich isotherm (R2=0.9769). Finally, material able retain competitive after five adsorption-desorption cycles.
