ABSTRACT
In the present paper, D-CAES storage systems are compared with Sodium–Sulfur (Na–S) and Lithium-ion (Li-ion) based ones on basis of Levelized Cost Storage (LCOS). Utility-scale characterized by a rated power in range 5–20 MW capacity tens/hundreds megawatt-hours have been addressed. Analyses carried out varying key parameters such as installed power, charge/discharge time periods, price electricity fuel cost. Results show that adoption can lead to better economic performance respect BES technologies. Na–S battery comparison Li-ion ones. It has noticed how improves increasing size system both terms capacity. solutions achieve LCOS lower than shown Na–S batteries, provided large enough.
