ABSTRACT
Phase change materials proved their capability of enhancing buildings' thermal inertia and improving occupants' comfort. More attention was triggered by the scientific community as use energy storage systems kept evolving in building sector. Previous experimental investigations examined effectiveness enhanced macro-encapsulated coconut oil bio-based PCM integrated with underfloor water radiant heating system two similar small-scale test facilities that are modular. The current study focuses on performing comparative energetic economic analyses performance regards to: weather conditions, application, type properties, plates position at underfloor. Results highlighted utilizing active floor, passive wall roof load shifting savings were obtained. It shown combination systems, annual 227 USD can be achieved; placing underneath system, saving 393.5 kWh achieved corresponding to 169 savings. However, 32 paraffin wax compared cocoa-nut PCM. Finally, cost reflected payback periods being evaluated follows: 6.82 years for experiment 2, 6.75 3 (both encountering shifting), 3.94 4 (encountering saving).
