ABSTRACT
Comparison of the value echocardiography and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) in monitoring response to treatment patients admitted for acute heart failure (HF).Ninety-five consecutive with HF underwent bedside Doppler BNP measurements on admission, after 24 h intravenous treatment, at day 7. We then studied association between clinical status, echocardiographic findings, subsequent 60-day adverse outcome (death, resuscitated cardiac arrest, urgent transplantation, readmission). On admission during hospitalisation, relationships were found plasma their changes. During a 60 follow-up, 37 events occurred. Multivariable analysis taking into account factors, showed that two best models predict (1) early evaluation 2 (previous CHF dobutamine use, relative change first h) (2) late 7 7). Patients decrease >10% 2, or <300 pg/ml had better than others (19% versus 65% 16% 72% events, respectively, p<0.0001).Serial provide incremental prognostic information over presentation repetitive examination.
