ABSTRACT
Mechanical joining techniques are fundamental in the industrial landscape, with welded joints standing out as a primary method across diverse manufacturing sectors. In this work, we present novel contribution to fatigue life assessment of welds through 3D-Scanning weld seam. The methodology is applied on specimens tested alternate bending fatigue, showing that for real case applications, statistical approach surface irregularities joint plays keyrole. particular by means scanning, some geometric parameters obtained characterize Then experimental testing relation between geometrical measured parameters, cycles failure and crack nucleation sites obtained. FEM models generated basing 3d scanning used simulations aiming at validating stress concentration related life. A dedicated software, called 3D-life, was developed process scans results numerical simulation estimations were predict sites.
