ABSTRACT
The published evidence on the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture people with dementia has been inconsistent. This systematic review overviews aims to summarize evaluate from relevant reviews (SRs) meta-analyses provide reliable for future clinical treatment. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Web Science, Cochrane Library, Database Systematic Reviews, DARE, Google Scholar, CNKI, VIP, CBM Wangfang establishment databases January 2020. types based pathology mainly include Alzheimer's disease (AD) vascular (VD). included SRs randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assess effect different outcomes in patients our search. assessed methodological quality using AMSTAR2, reporting PRISMA checklist, GRADE. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used test consistency results two evaluators. Thirteen met inclusion criteria, including a total 137 RCTs 9012 participants. suggested that beneficial effects effectiveness, cognitive ability, activities daily living treatment 4–24 weeks, although there high degree heterogeneity. Subgroup analysis showed more effective treating VD than AD. Further analyses also revealed single superior combination treatments significantly higher drug treatments. reports rated "high" one SR, "moderate" five SRs, "low" seven SRs. only SR "low," rest were "very low." rate, MMSE, ADAS-cog, HDS, MoCA FAQ. Acupuncture potential therapeutic dementia, but not high. Higher-quality are warranted confirm dementia.
