ABSTRACT
Citral is the major constituent of Lemongrass oil (LGO) and has various application in food, cosmetic pharmaceutical industry. The present study was focused on enhancement citral content LGO employing spinning band column equipped high vacuum fractional distillation setup. collected fractions were investigated for volatile composition using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS), antioxidant activity 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method antibacterial against Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria. total varied from 1.90 to 88% with highest fraction, residue experiment-B (RSD, Ex-B, 88%) collection 63 mL. RSD, Ex-B demonstrated lowest IC50 value 6.77±0.42µL/mL 55.84 percent inhibition. Further, strong inhibition by all tested bacterial strains. sensory analysis revealed that leaves dominated lemony, fresh grassy; lemony fresh; RSD (Ex-B) sweet notes. process changed overall aroma profile eliminating grassy off odors makes it useful product flavor fragrance application. rich have economic as well food industry a flavor, preservative; home care self-hygiene products.
