ABSTRACT
The removal of pollutants from water should be followed by a proper treatment the spent adsorbents. In this study, sugarcane bagasse/polydopamine (SB/PDA) adsorbents were applied in batch and column adsorption studies towards Cr(VI) ions. Adsorbents prepared with higher concentration dopamine (4 g.L−1) led to more efficient (SB/PDA4) maximum capacity (qmax) 138 mg.g−1. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses revealed that mechanism involved ion-dipole electrostatic interactions between PDA functional groups. spontaneous (ΔGads - 9 kJ mol−1) process was driven an entropic gain related release counter-ions molecules. Under optimized operational conditions, fixed-bed achieved 141.7 Considering circular economy principles, contaminated incorporated cement pastes. No leaching cement/adsorbent samples could detected over 64 days, their mechanical behavior comparable reference samples. wastewater SB/PDA successful incorporation demonstrated sustainable management liquid solid wastes.
