Use and sustainability of wood in acoustic guitars: An overview based on the global market

Since the dawn of humanity, wood has been material choice for crafting musical instruments due to its favorable acoustic properties, workability, and aesthetic value. Acoustic guitars are among most widespread worldwide, today industrially manufactured by large companies with global markets. This study investigates use in modern guitars, a focus on species sustainability. The websites 14 relevant manufacturers scale were analyzed collecting data 874 4506 components. purpose research is provide novel overview variety relevance woods employed sector, common environmental issues associated their use, strategies adopted deal sustainability concerns communicate commitment public. results show that, overall, remains wide number used. Sustainability aspects often highlighted websites. However, taxonomy ambiguous several cases, some endangered used limited information about preservation. Therefore enhancing alternative increasing efforts promoting end consumer awareness targets further enhance sector that already provides great valorization this renewable material.
