Core competence of midwives in township hospitals and its influencing factors—A cross-sectional study

ABSTRACT
ObjectiveThis study aimed to assess the core competence of midwives in township hospitals through a self-assessment questionnaire. The relationship between professional identity and factors influencing midwives' was also investigated.MethodConvenience sampling conducted 77 Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, China, with 150 participants. questionnaires were distributed online November 2021. We descriptive data analysis, correlation analysis two variables competencies, multivariate linear regression analyse factors, including sociodemographic information, Midwife Core Competence Scale, Nurses' Professional Identity Scale scores.ResultsThe mean score for 206.43 (±37.45) out 270. highest pregnancy care (3.97 ± 0.70) lowest newborn (3.72 0.78). independent sample t-test results one-way variance showed that qualifications, midwifery training situation, working years had differential effects on competencies (P < 0.05). Multiple years, level 0.05).ConclusionsThe lower than those reported other studies. Advancements education, may increase competencies.
