ABSTRACT
BackgroundEnzymes of the peptidylarginine deiminase family (PADs) play a relevant role in pathogenesis COVID-19. However, association single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) their genes with COVID-19 severity and death is unknown.MethodologyWe included 1045 patients who were diagnosed between October 2020 December 2021. All subjects genotyped for PADI2 (rs1005753 rs2235926) PADI4 (rs11203366, rs11203367, rs874881) SNPs by TaqMan assays associations disease severity, death, inflammatory biomarkers evaluated.Results291 presented had severe according to PaO2/FiO2, 393 non-survival outcome. Carriers rs1005753 G/G genotype gene susceptibility COVID-19, while heterozygous carriers rs11203366, rs874881 showed risk death. The GTACC haplotype PADI2-PADI4 was associated GCACC protective factor.
