Residents' preferences for urban agriculture in Shanghai

ABSTRACT
Although urban agriculture (UA) has been gaining greater attention as part of an effort toward sustainable development in China, empirical knowledge is limited. We conducted a discrete choice experiment with 756 residents Shanghai. Overall, the results indicate that respondents supported UA they tended to favor one scenarios presented. Residents prefer facilities utilize environmentally friendly production, offer farming activities, and are equipped dining facilities. Regularly scheduled educational activities hosted by preferred those on irregular basis. In terms location, close but do not necessarily want be right front them. There stronger preference for among highly educated populations, primary secondary school students, agricultural work experience. Additionally, various attributes affect residents' preferences; overall, there high degree homogeneity preferences attributes.
