ABSTRACT
Introduction: Critics have challenged the routine use of robotics for cholecystectomy. With stable optics and interchangeable instruments Xi DaVinci platform we analyzed clinical financial benefits a robotic approach. Methods: Retrospective analysis matched Intuitive data was performed to evaluate use, outcomes impact Cost using 80% utilization systems average hospital cost United States. Results: The study cohort had similar demographics presentation including Obesity (BMI>35), cirrhosis, acute cholecystitis, pancreatitis percutaneous cholecystostomy tube placements (Table). group realized reduction in stays over 24 hours (47% 16%) with equivalent complication rates significant savings OR time $92,990 length stay $199,290 an estimated $3013.20 per patient or $584,560 entire cohort. Conclusions: Robotic cholecystectomy this series required significantly less conversions resulting lower operative times, overall patient. This will require further fixed variable associated across utilization.EP03E-018Age (yrs.)Male (%)BMI >35 (%)Acute (%)Perc Chole (%)Cirrhosis (%)Pancreatitis (%)Conversion (%)OR (mins)LOS (days)Robotic n=9743.829.98.213.46.111.37.2030.80.17LapN=9754.042.310.312.414.411.39.36.242.10.86p-value0.3180.0730.6220.8310.0591.0000.6040.013<0.0001<0.0001 Open table new tab
