ABSTRACT
Much has been written and said about Paul Greengard, Nobel Prize in Medicine, one of the greatest neuroscientists history. As we approach centenary his birth, now is not a bad time to look back once more learn from such fantastic figure neuroscience. We performed literature search PubMED database Greengard's publications. Greenengard's first publications date 1954, particular, with work entitled "Some relationships between action potential, oxygen consumption coenzyme content degenerating peripheral axons", until reaching almost thousand articles published at end life. His latest research focused on Alzheimer's disease(AD) mood disorders(MD), which it worth highlighting: - A molecular framework for understanding complex interplay Aβ, aging, neurodegeneration within most vulnerable neurons AD γ-secretase modulated by neuroinflammation via nterferon-induced transmembrane protein 3(IFITM3) risk therefore increased. activating protein(GSAP) impairs mitochondrial function through its mitochondria-associated membrane(MAM) localization that lowering GSAP expression reduces pathological effects associated AD. The loss functional 5-HT4R specifically excitatory hippocampus led robust AD-like behavioral responses an elevation baseline anxiety. P11 as key molecule specific cell type regulates stress-induced depression. new role determinant ependymal cell-driven CSF flow MD. In conclusion, contributions made today, few years after death, are essential take next steps aforementioned topics. Figures investigative capacity like his, teach us lot, only respect so many pearls discovered during career, but also ways approaching research, doing things. Declaration Interest Statement: None
