Relationship between residential house damage and flood characteristics: A case study in the Teesta River Basin, Bangladesh

ABSTRACT
The flood damage function model is indispensable for assessment as it can provide useful information establishing protection strategies. For the of residential house in different areas, models have been traditionally proposed considering only depth–damage curve. However, duration and may also an influence on damage. Conventionally, rate was estimated based about monetary losses collected from local people or insurance payout databases. This research proposes a new methodology to establish that considers depth, duration, velocity. Field surveys were conducted Teesta River Basin rural Bangladesh. each house, questionnaire identify (flood qualitative representation velocity), household structure (area, plinth height, ceiling height), structural mechanism, required amount material labor repair after event.
