ABSTRACT
A specific design approach is formulated to design notched components of additively manufactured AISI 316L against constant/variable amplitude multiaxial fatigue loading. The accuracy of the proposed approach is checked against experimental results generated by testing, under constant/variable amplitude biaxial loading, plain/notched cylindrical specimens of 3D-printed AISI 316L. Specific experimental trials were run to investigate also the effect of out-of-phase angles equal to 90° and superimposed static stresses. The sound agreement between experimental results and predictions confirms that the proposed approach can be used safely in situations of practical interest to perform multiaxial fatigue assessment of notched additively manufactured components.
