ABSTRACT
Although similarity simulation experiments have been widely used in geotechnical engineering, their application soft rock mechanics is still limited due to the complex water–rock interaction of such rocks. The purpose this study was synthesise red mudstone–like materials by method mineral composition and proportion are completely similar that natural samples, using sodium silicate content, compression time vertical stress investigate mechanical properties physical synthetic were compared with those mudstone density, acoustic characteristics, microstructure investigation as well uniaxial triaxial tests. results show can reproduce mudstone. They content one most important factors governing properties, internal friction angle, materials. Importantly, synthesis developed could potentially be implemented engineering.
