Rare large cell neuroendocrine tumor of the endometrium: A case report and review of the literature

ABSTRACT
Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) of the endometrium is a rare malignancy with an aggressive course. Although data limited to case reports, prognosis appears be poor, similar other type II uterine cancers. A total 12 cases LCNEC uterus have been published date. 71 year-old woman presented postmenopausal vaginal bleeding. Endometrial biopsy was non-diagnostic for LCNEC. She underwent surgical debulking and staging 22 cm endometrial tumor omental metastasis positive lymph nodes. Her final FIGO stage IVB. We summarize all prior reports discuss definition, presentation, imaging management. The pathology immunohistochemical review, adjuvant therapy are also reviewed. Pathologic findings immunohistochemistry essential in making diagnosis endometrium. Primary typically performed, but if can made preoperatively immunohistochemistry, surgeons should consider neoadjuvant chemotherapy due its high grade histology Otherwise usually given. Even early disease, seems poor. Due rarity this malignancy, more needed establish incidence.
