ABSTRACT
Ileostomy is an iatrogenic entero-cutaneous (EC) fistula designed for controlled evacuation of bowel contents. Once ileostomy has served its purpose, it reverted by surgical procedure. We are reporting interesting case spontaneous closure ileostomy, obviating the need intervention.A 26 year old lady presented with perforation peritonitis. Upon exploration, a tubercular terminal ileum was found. Loop formed and patient discharged on anti-tubercular treatment (ATT) after uneventful recovery. During follow up visits, stoma found to be retracting gradually. Retraction not associated any signs Patient able pass stools per rectally. Stoma regressed completely within 8 months followed epithelialisation site. leading essentially normal life until her last visit.Considering various factors affecting healing EC fistulas, all intestinal stomas do have favourable characteristics essential closure. However, this seldom seen in day practice. The pertaining particular that led remain poorly understood.Further research warranted understand mechanism behind regression stoma. Relationship between event tuberculosis or ATT needs analysed.
