Nation-wide Japanese FTD consortium FTLD-J: Utility of case review meetings

ABSTRACT
To clarify the characteristics of Japanese patients with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), we have established a nationwide multicenter registry named Frontiers Time course and Living specimen Disease-modifying therapy development in FTLD (FTLD-J). ensure diagnostic consistency, implemented case review meetings evaluated their utility. Between February 2016 August 2024, 269 behavioral variant FTD (bvFTD), semantic (SD), or progressive nonfluent aphasia (PNFA) were registered. Fifteen meetings, open to all participating facilities, held, where clinical course, neuropsychiatric-neuropsychological evaluations, neuroimaging analysis 238 out cases presented. Initial diagnoses approved revised based on discussions among specialists regarding whether met criteria. We examined stability participants initially diagnosed bvFTD, SD, PNFA. Given limited number PNFA cases, compared rate changes between bvFTD SD using chi-square test. Of 126 enrolled as 75 confirmed bvFTD.
