ABSTRACT
There are three major challenges for climatic data availability Reference Evapotranspiration (ET0) calculations in Bosnia and Herzegovina: limited availability, discontinuity of records, low station density. The main objective this study was to apply reliable methods calculate spatially distribute ET0, while considering the impact elevation. A 20 m spatial resolution map created mean ET0 values at monthly, vegetation period (April–September) annual temporal municipality (143 municipalities), regional (4 regions) national resolutions. 108 weather stations 1961–2016 (56 years) were utilized interpolation using kriging with external drift method. required elevation estimation each grid node extracted from digital model Herzegovina. calculated FAO-56 Penman-Monteith, cases where only minimum maximum temperature available Hargreaves-Samani equation adjusted locally appropriate empirical radiation coefficient used. gradual decrease southern central northern part country is notable. For all seasons (monthly, annually), region has greater than other regions (north, west central-east), which similar. long-term Herzegovina 716 mm, approximately 78% (559 mm) occurs during period.
