ABSTRACT
The incidence of pregnancy in women with cardiovascular disease (CVD) has increased, yet little is known about placental pathology these women. objectives this study were to describe pregnancies complicated by maternal CVD and compare findings among categories CVD. A retrospective, single-center was conducted. Pathology reports for 264 placentas from reviewed prespecified pathologic which then compared against characteristics. Placentas associated congenital heart (n = 171), arrhythmia 43), cardiomyopathy 20), connective tissue valvular 10). Median age at delivery 32 years (range: 19-49). gestational 39 weeks 25-41). Placental identified 75% (199/264) placentas. Anatomic pathology, primarily small placenta weight, present 45% (119/264) Vascular vascular malperfusion or fetal malperfusion, seen 41% (107/264) Acute chorioamnionitis villitis unknown etiology (VUE) 23% (61/264) 11% (28/264) placentas, respectively. Prevalence VUE differed across (P 0.008) most common disease; there no differences anatomic, infectious, pathologies categories. Pregnancies commonly demonstrate abnormal findings, especially anatomic pathology. Otherwise, the specific did not differ based on
