ABSTRACT
METHODS: Using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample, patients who underwent liver surgery between 2000-2011 were identified. Hospitals and surgeons were separately stratified into low, medium or high volume categories according to overall annual liver surgery caseload (hospitals: 43 cases/year; surgeons: 40 cases/year). Multivariable logistic regression was used to identify factors leading to complications and death.
