ABSTRACT
The present work reports preparation of irbesartan (IBS) loaded nanofibre mats using electrospinning technique. prepared nanofibres were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential calorimetry, X-ray diffraction analysis, in vitro diffusion and ex vivo skin permeation studies. FTIR studies revealed chemical compatibility IBS polyvinyl pyrrolidine (PVP K-30). SEM images confirmed formation wherein existed amorphous form as DSC XRD analyses. found to be superior cast films when analysed for release since the flux was 17 times greater than film. improvement drug delivery kinetics could attributed amorphization with reduction particle size IBS, dispersion at molecular level PVP matrix enormous increase surface area due nanonization. Thus transdermal patch can considered an alternative dosage order improve its biopharmaceutical properties enhance therapeutic efficacy hypertension.
