ABSTRACT
The CO2 adsorption performances of a Linde-Type A (LTA) zeolite and natural Clinoptilolite (Clino) zeolite, both in shaped form, were investigated as such or after an ion-exchange procedure compared to assess their potential application solid adsorbents for Carbon Capture Storage (CCS). samples characterized following multi-technique approach. Their structural textural properties evaluated investigate the accessibility different ions present inside microporous structure strength interaction with adsorbates. tests carried out performing pure adsorption/desorption isotherms dynamic breakthrough measurements wide range temperature (298–423 K). enhanced capacity synthetic while no significant increment is observed one. Nonetheless, reversibility affected by cation exchange process zeolites. capacities LTA zeolites are higher at lower temperatures, whereas Clino interesting also medium-high temperature, being most performant material 423 K. By IR experiments specific probe molecules, presence consistent number Fe2+ framework Clino, responsible this strongly interact was proved. peculiar behavior its low cost availability form some essential features possible implementation real CCS technologies.
