ABSTRACT
A collective understanding of economic impacts and in particular monetary costs biological invasions is lacking for the Nordic region. This paper synthesizes findings from literature on countries together with expert elicitation. The analysis cost data has been made possible through InvaCost database, a globally open repository that allows use temporal, spatial, taxonomic descriptors facilitating better how are distributed. total reported invasive species across were estimated at $8.35 billion (in 2017 US$ values) damage significantly outweighing management costs. Norway incurred highest ($3.23 billion), followed by Denmark ($2.20 Sweden ($1.45 Finland ($1.11 billion) Iceland ($25.45 million). Costs Nordics appear to be largely underestimated. We conclude highlighting such knowledge gaps, including gaps policies regulation stemming judgment as well avenues an improved invasion needs future research.
