ABSTRACT
The DMRT3 gene is described as the main involved in determination of gait phenotypes horses, and allele A 22999655C>A single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) has been reported a causal variant this trait. In Mangalarga Marchador breed, which exhibits two patterns with well-defined characteristics, genotypes AA CA are associated marcha picada genotype CC batida. only related to gait. objective study was identify type control batida investigate SNPs genomic regions responsible for phenotype horses. Forty-eight horses belonging groups, SNP (n = 20) 28), were analyzed using Equine SNP70 BeadChip. genome-wide association result shows first time that, contrast that apparently determined by (DMRT3) g.22999655C>A controls trait, controlled larger number genes. Because small animals used groups compared, smaller effects on could not be identified.
