ABSTRACT
Here we report the draft genome sequence of Staphylococcus agnetis 4244, a strain involved in bovine mastitis, and its ability to inhibit different species antibiotic-resistant Gram-positive bacteria owing bacteriocin production. An Illumina MiSeq platform was used for sequencing. De novo assembly done using A5-miseq pipeline. Genome annotation performed by RAST server, mining bacteriocinogenic gene clusters BAGEL4 antiSMASH v.5.0 platforms. Investigation spectrum activity S. 4244 on BHI agar deferred antagonism assay. The total scaffold size determined be 2 511 708 bp featuring G+C content 35.6%. The contains 2431 protein-coding sequences 80 RNA sequences. analyses revealed three prophage inserted as well several genes drug resistance two (encoding thiopeptide sactipeptide) encoded bacterial chromosome. able all 44 strains tested this study, including vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), methicillin-resistant aureus (MRSA) other staphylococcal strains. This study emphasises potential biotechnological application production bacteriocins that could food industry biopreservatives and/or medicine alternative therapeutic options against VRE, MRSA, vancomycin-intermediate bacteria, biofilm-forming isolates. It also provides some genetic features 4244.
