ABSTRACT
Leaf shape is a part of ideotype. Appropriate leaf rolling aids compact plant architecture. Oilseed crucial crop, but the genetic basis for development in rapeseed (Brassica napus) unclear, and no corresponding improvement germplasm resources are available. We identified dominant mutant, INSIDE-ROLLING LEAF1 (IRL1), with internal leaves due to abnormal mesophyll cell development. It had drooped siliques semi-dwarf stature, reducing one two effective branch numbers. Map-based cloning complementary validation confirmed BnaC02G0201100ZS as causal gene IRL1. encodes LATERAL ORGAN BOUNDARIES DOMAIN6 (BnaC02.LBD6). Phenotypic variation irl1 mutant was an increase BnaC02.LBD6 expression owing single nucleotide substitution at DNA binding site promoter. Phenotype plants overexpressing similar that mutant. Haploid analysis showed rare promoter, resulting unique phenotype Transcriptome differential genes related adaxial–abaxial polarity development, secondary metabolic processes, hormone signalling pathways. provide novel insights into rapeseed: characteristics valuable architecture improvement.
