Epidemiological characteristics of seasonal influenza under implementation of zero-COVID-19 strategy in China

ABSTRACT
Respiratory viral diseases have posed a persistent threat to public health due their high transmissibility. Influenza virus and SARS-Cov-2 are both respiratory viruses that caused global pandemics. A zero-COVID-19 strategy is policy imposed stop community transmission of COVID-19 as soon it detected. In this study, we aim examine the epidemiological characteristics seasonal influenza in past five years before after emergence China observe possible impact on influenza.Data from two data sources were retrospectively analyzed. comparison incidence rate between Hubei Zhejiang provinces was conducted based Chinese Center for Disease Control Prevention (CDC). Then descriptive comparative analysis Zhongnan Hospital Wuhan University Hangzhou Ninth People`s outbreak SARS-CoV-2 conducted.From 2010-2017, experienced relatively low activity until 1st week 2018, when they reached peak rates 78.16/100000PY, 34.05/100000PY respectively. Since then, showed an obvious seasonality onset COVID-19. During 2020 2021, there dramatic decline compared 2018 2019. However, seemed rebound at beginning 2022 surged summer, with positive 20.52% 31.53% respectively time writing article.Our results reinforce hypothesis may pattern influenza.
