ABSTRACT
Laser ablation is demonstrated to be a competent approach processing chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond which admitted own poor machinability and accordingly arduous machine using conventional techniques. Notwithstanding, initial laser absorption by defects typically precipitates undesirable quality an increment in internal defects. The strategy of metal-coating-assisted ablation, applies coating on the prior irradiation curtail advance ablated surface, proposed this study. In addition, absorptivity-based energy distribution model established evaluate surface roughness depth. It can concluded that metal prevents local graphitization during early stage. Ti-coated surfaces resulted maximum reduction 42.6% 53%, respectively, for 100 500 nm coating, comparison with uncoated surfaces. Besides, depth laser-ablated abates reaches 21% diamond, while has negligible effect summary, application thin coatings results homogeneous better finish marginal
