ABSTRACT
The effects of low-frequency electromagnetic casting (LFEC) on the microstructure and tensile properties 5A90 Al–Mg–Li alloy with without minor Sc were investigated. In addition to Sc, refined microstructures conventional direct chill cast (DCC) as-cast further more equiaxed grains formed in LFEC ingots Sc. Higher density, smaller size, uniform distribution Al3(Sc, Zr) aged induced by LFEC, which pins grain boundaries, can effectively inhibit recrystallization. As a result, it had been significant improvement strength was mainly due Orowan effect dispersoids combined refinement. ultimate 565.4 MPa, yield 475.3 corresponding elongation 6.4% obtained as-aged 0.15 wt% at 10 Hz 100 A.
