ABSTRACT
Abstract This paper shows the design of a fuzzy control and a fuzzy observer, the main idea was to get stability for both of them; thus, the design was based in linear matrix inequalities, where the consequents of the fuzzy rules are linear submodels of a fermentation process in a state-space representation; in this way, it is possible to have a perfect fuzzy model. Based in this fuzzy model, the state-feedback controller and the observer gains were tuned. The observer for the concentrations is used because usually in bioprocesses it is not possible to measure the entire state online; with the estimated state it is possible to make a state-feedback to control the product concentration and not only with an output-feedback.
