ABSTRACT
Drug–drug interactions (DDIs) may result in the alteration of therapeutic response. Sometimes they increase untoward effects many drugs. Hospitalized cardiac patients need more attention regarding drug–drug due to complexity their disease and regimen. This research was performed find out types, prevalence association between various predictors potential (pDDIs) Department Cardiology report common interactions. study hospitalized at Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad, Pakistan. Patient charts 2342 were assessed for pDDIs using Micromedex® Drug Information. Logistic regression applied pDDIs. The main outcome measure with factors such as age, gender, polypharmacy, hospital stay patients. We identified 53 interacting-combinations that present total 5109 median number 02 per patient. Overall, 91.6% had least one pDDI; 86.3% having major pDDI, 84.5% moderate pDDI. Among pDDIs, most (55%) or severity (45%); established (24.2%), theoretical (18.8%) probable (57%) type scientific evidence. Top 10 included 3 7 Results obtained by multivariate logistic revealed a significant occurrence patient age 60 years (p < 0.001), days longer 0.001) taking drugs 0.001). found high Cardiology, which severity. Older patients, elevated prescribed higher risk
