Comparison of two analgesics used for pain relief after placement of orthodontic separators

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to assess the possible effect two analgesics: paracetamol (500 mg) and ibuprofen (400 on pain routine life patients after placement orthodontic separators.Ninety aged 11-41 years undergoing fixed comprehensive treatment requiring different separators participated in study. Following separators, participants were randomly assigned 1 3 groups: given every 6 h for days, 8 2 days control group which no analgesic given. A questionnaire comprising 7 questions distributed asked report their feeling pain. collected data tabulated statistical analysis performed using ANOVA, chi-square test, t-test with a significance level p < 0.05.In general, high all groups first three days. Then it gradually reduced until 7th day Few reported during sleep whereas significant reduction eating chewing 3rd separators. However, some felt continuous 1st 2nd following application separators.The prescribed did not any problem tooth movement along as compared paracetamol. Pain relief medication should be taken only if patient feels intolerable but practice.
