ABSTRACT
Continuous surveillance of stroke admissions has been conducted in the Hunter region, Australia, over past two decades. We aimed to describe trends incidence rates hospitalised and case-fatality this 2001-2019.From a hospital-based registry, data for admitted adult patients residing region were collected using ICD-10 codes ischemic haemorrhagic stroke. Negative binomial regression logistic analysis used analyse age-standardised age-specific 28-day rates.A total 14,662 hospitalisations 13,242 individuals registered. The rate declined from 123 per 100,000 population 2001-2005 epoch 96 2016-2019 (mean annual change -2.0%, ratio (IRR) = 0.980 [95%CI: 0.976-0.984]). Age-specific analyses identified significant reduction group aged 75-84 (1039 633 2016-2019, -3.5%, IRR= 0.965 0.960-0.970]). fluctuated time (18.5% 2001-2005, 20.8% 2010-2015, 17.8% 2016-2019). Projected aging suggests volume with new will increase by 77% 2041 if remain unchanged at level.Although have health system face an related population.
