ABSTRACT
The proximal anastomosis is a crucial step during open repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. A technically sound decreases intraoperative blood loss, as well the operative time needed for suture line repair. Traditionally, continuous running used construction this anastomosis. At author's institution, technique interrupted pledgeted selectively when quality tissue suboptimal. This report describes and compares outcomes to traditional technique. Among 60 48 anastomoses, we found equivalent clamp time, estimated loss two techniques. However, patients with had higher risks additional reinforcement hospitalization (43.3% vs 72.9% continuous; P = .002). anastomotic presented here valuable option in aneurysm faced friable tissue.
