ABSTRACT
Two neuston nets, mesh opening 1.00 mm and 0.333 mm, were towed in parallel. The net collected more microplastics of longest length ≤2.00 than the net. Mesh selection curve for was estimated with SELECT analysis by comparison size distributions two nets. Selection net, often used as a standard microplastic sampling, also on assumption geometrical similarity between given retention probability. Approximately 60% amount (0.4–1.0 mm) sampling passed through thus unaccounted for. can retain at most 1.5% ≤0.4 entering rarely retained ≤0.3 mm.
