ABSTRACT
Abstract Large scale and single armed CdS nanorods have been prepared by novel solvothermal method. CdS nanorods have been prepared by using cadmium acetate and ethylenediamine at 150 °C and 5–7 h. The prepared nanorods have been characterized using techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy. The experimental results have indicated that CdS nanocrystals are single phase with hexagonal structure. SEM and TEM images show that CdS nanocrystals are single arm and their diameters are 45 nm.
