ABSTRACT
Negative subsequent memory effects in functional MRI studies of formation have been linked to individual differences performance, yet the effect age on this association is currently unclear. To provide insight into brain systems related across lifespan, we examined neuroimaging data acquired during episodic and behavioral performance from a recognition task sample 109 participants, including three developmental groups (8-12, 13-17, 18-25 year-olds) one additional group older adults (55-85 year-olds). Young showed highest strongest negative effects, while reduced relative young adults. Across sample, were associated with better there was significant interaction between by group. Posthoc analyses revealed that moderation driven stronger than children, neither children nor association. These findings suggest may differentially support lifespan trajectory characterized maturation further investigation aging.
